Overview
Crypto UK Tax Calculator ("the App") is a mobile application that helps UK users estimate cryptocurrency tax obligations. The App operates entirely on your device and does not require an account, login, or any personal information to function.
Data We Collect
We do not collect any personal data. Specifically:
- No account registration or login is required.
- No names, email addresses, or contact details are collected.
- No financial data, transaction history, or portfolio information leaves your device.
- No analytics, tracking, or advertising identifiers are used.
- No cookies are set by the App.
Data Stored on Your Device
The App stores the following data locally on your device using on-device storage (AsyncStorage):
- Transaction records — buys, sells, mining, staking, and airdrop entries you create.
- App settings — your chosen tax bracket, theme preference, and disclaimer acceptance.
- Cached price data — historical cryptocurrency prices fetched to reduce repeat network requests.
This data is stored solely on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party. You can delete all stored data at any time from the Settings screen within the App.
Network Requests
The App makes outbound network requests to the following third-party services for the sole purpose of fetching publicly available market data:
- Binance API — to retrieve historical and current cryptocurrency prices.
- Frankfurter API — to convert USD prices to GBP using exchange rates.
- CryptoRates.ai — to fetch a list of available cryptocurrencies and market data.
These requests do not include any personal information or device identifiers. They are standard HTTPS requests to public APIs.
Special thanks to CryptoRates.ai for their brilliant API and the fantastic work they do providing reliable cryptocurrency data.
Data Export & Backup
The App allows you to export your transaction data as a JSON file and restore from a backup. This is done entirely on your device using the operating system's file sharing capabilities. We have no access to your exported files.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or social media services. The only third-party interactions are the public API requests described above for market price data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
